David Hirt is the product line architect and Charleston site leader for Cummins High Horsepower (HHP) Marine, a position he has held since 2015. He joined Cummins in 1984 as a product engineer and quickly rose through the ranks, becoming a senior design engineer within four years. Since 2010, Hirt has been with Cummins HHP, where he is responsible for developing HHP Marine Tier 4 and IMO III emissions products, including all architectural technical capabilities across the product line—both engine and after treatment. Cummins HHP has design centers located in China, India, U.K. and the United States, with worldwide headquarters in Charleston, N.C., where he is site leader.
Hirt is a 1984 graduate of Purdue University with a Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering. He and his wife Christi have three sons and live in North Charleston, S.C.
