Devon Carlock, Vice President of Safety & Government Relations, Cottrell Contracting Corporation
Devon Carlock is a seasoned professional with 34 years of experience in the dredging and maritime construction industry. His career commenced in 1990 as an engineer for a marine towing company operating on Chesapeake Bay. He advanced within the company, becoming the director of operations in early 1999. By 2003, he had taken on the role of superintendent for Southwind Construction, a dredging firm based in Evansville, Indiana, where he managed projects from Maine to Florida and as far west as Iowa. In 2011, he joined the management team at Southwind, assuming responsibilities in corporate safety, project management and estimating. In 2015, Carlock accepted the position of vice president of safety and government affairs at Cottrell Contracting, where he manages all safety-related issues across the company.
Carlock is the president of the Council for Dredging and Marine Construction Safety, chairman of the Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway Association and an active member of the Dredging Contractors of America and American Waterways Operators. He holds 47 safety certifications and a degree from the Maritime Institute of Technology and Graduate Studies.
