IMX Speaker – Colton Schmitt

Colton Schmitt was born and raised in Dubuque, Iowa, where his family has deep roots in the river industry ranging from commercial fishing to towboats. His background sparked an early interest in life on the river and shaped his desire to pursue a career that feels more like a passion than a job.

He joined Riverview Tug Service and has gained hands-on experience working in the shipyard, serving as a deckhand in the Gulf Division and currently managing the Riverview Boat Store in Godfrey, Illinois. Through these roles, Colton has developed a well-rounded perspective of the maritime industry from both operational and shoreside viewpoints.
