Dave Matsuda is a national transportation expert with more than a quarter century of experience leading, overseeing and working in and with federal transportation agencies, giving him a deep understanding of how the federal government makes decisions. He served as the 17th administrator for the U.S. Maritime Administration (MarAd), managing more than $1 billion in federal investment into U.S. ports, shipyards and shipbuilding projects. Matsuda’s leadership renewed a focus on maritime education and environmental sustainability, promoting one of the industry’s most valuable assets:  its ability to innovate through its hard-working professionals.

Prior to his work at the Maritime Administration, Matsuda focused on high-speed rail and other national transportation initiatives as assistant secretary for transportation policy and chief transportation adviser to U.S. Sen. Frank R. Lautenberg.  His federal career also included stints on the U.S. Senate Committee on Commerce, Science and Transportation and as a staff attorney with the Federal Railroad Administration.

Matsuda works with public and private organizations of all sizes, providing advice on federal matters and helping develop successful grant, marketing, legislative, regulatory and policy development strategies.
