Susan Olson is a business and technology leader with expertise in agricultural and energy commodities. Her career path has focused on originating and leading innovation in technology, analytics and logistics sectors, including as the founder of Action Intel, CEO of Demeter Logistics, chief operating officer of EdjAnalytics,and managing director at Genscape. As founder of Action Intel, Olson pioneered the development of actionable market intelligence for commodities trading and transportation, utilizing sensor data, imagery, analytics, and AI. In November 2023, she launched the groundbreaking BargeAI product, delivering new market intelligence on waterborne commodities. Before this, she served as the CEO of Demeter Logistics, where she built a 25-person company from the ground up, producing a software platform to digitally transform the bulk grain supply chain for commercial agriculture companies. Under her leadership, the company secured more than $7 million in seed funding and produced a market-first cash trading platform. Olson’s tenure as COO at EdjAnalytics was marked by her innovative use of machine learning and data science to generate business revenue and create new products. Her efforts spanned trading strategies, life sciences, human resources, marketing and other fields. At Genscape, she created a seven-figure business line in agriculture and biofuels and emerged as an inventor of six patents. Her extensive research and development experience includes work on the Joint Strike Fighter with Honeywell and innovative projects with NASA’s Ames Research Center and the Office of Naval Research. Olson holds a Ph.D. and Master of Science in aerospace and mechanical engineering from the University of Notre Dame and a Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering from the University of Evansville.
