Todd Behlke joined Kirby Inland Marine as a steersman in the spring of 1998 upon his graduation from Maine Maritime Academy. He quickly progressed to pilot and was captain for the last six years of his career afloat before coming ashore in late 2007 as a port captain. While ashore, he has served in several capacities in vessel operations, working his way up to his current role of vice president of vessel operations for Kirby Inland Marine. His responsibilities include the oversight of the team that manages the 220 Kirby-owned inland towing vessels and the 1,900 professional mariners who serve aboard those vessels.

Belhlke has served on several inland waterways groups, including the Lone Star Harbor Safety Committee (LSHSC) and Southeast Texas Waterway Advisory Committee (SETWAC), and he is currently serving as co-chair on the River Industry Executive Task Force (RIETF).

He earned a degree in nautical science, small vessel operations, from the Maine Maritime Academy. He holds a 1,600-ton master’s license along with a Master of Towing – Near Coastal. Todd lives in Houston, Texas, but frequents his hometown of Marblehead, Ohio.
